Chalkboard Project

I have been meaning to make a chalkboard for the longest time, so finally I got all of my ducks in a row and made one with a piece of birch cut the size of the side of my cabinet, and a can of chalkboard paint.  After several coats it was finally time to prep the chalkboard so I can use it.  From what I read online I think you just draw all over it then wipe it off, repeat x many and it is good to go.  I enlisted the chalk experts to help me with this step :)

When Madeline woke up she was also happy to help
By help I mean to draw a few things then get bored and stick the chalk in her mouth and run around.
I am not installing the chalkboard until I get the chalk pens in the mail.  From what I have gleaned (again from the internet) is that chalk pens don't work on painted chalkboards, only decal chalk boards or store bought ones.  If that is true I will have to coat this with chalkboard contact paper and then put it up.  My plan is for this to be a family calendar and to do/ shopping list station.  Hopefully it works out! I can definitely use a little more organization in my life.  In fact I can't get enough organization, I love it!

Can't wait to see how it goes... hope the painted one works, if not I'm in the same boat as you!
